This site details the planning for a Southeast USA motorcycle tour of the US. The intention is ride our bikes to Lorton, Virginia in order to board the Amtrak Auto Train. The ride from Ottawa to Lorton is a good two to three day ride. The preference would be to plan a scenic route with lots of side sightseeing trips so as to enjoy the whole experience of travelling by bike and to meet people and have fun along the way. Staying overnight in Washington the plan would be to arrive at the Auto Train terminal around 1100 to ensure we are boarded properly and have priority for the offload.

The Auto Train normally leaves around 1600 for Sanford, Florida on a 17 hour overnight trip. We intend to buy a ticket for a Bedroom car so that we are nice and rested in the morning and can have our own private shower so we are refreshed in the morning. After getting our bikes back the intention will be to head to Orlando and to find a place to stay for the evening.
